|Tenzin used to go out with that metalbender police chief, Lynn.. that's why she's so hostile towards the rest of the council.. she actually sides with Korra on not wanting to shut down the pro bending arena because that would show that the equalists are winning.. but this all falls right into Aman's plan. The uses the cheating tournament winners to make an example of his permanent chi blocking powers.|
Later, Korra finds out that the guy who sponsored the fire ferrets in the tournament (and the father of Asami, Korra's love rival) is a bad guy working for the equalists, and he attacks them with these mecha suits that resist all bending elements. These enemies seem way more formidable and competent than the fire nation enemies of the previous series.
Tarlok, the council member who started the special task force to fight against the equalists, is kind of a shady character.. Lynn didn't trust him at all.. but then Lynn quit the police force in order to fight against Aman independantly, and the new chief who took over decided to work under Tarlok's task force... Tarlok convinces the council to make strict laws punishing all non-benders, and even captures Korra's friends. Korra tries to save them, but they tell her not to because she's too important to get arrested.
Korra starts fighting Tarlok, saying he's just as bad as Aman... but gets her ass handed to her by his bloodbending ability. Tarlok says that it was the equalists who attacked and kidnapped Korra, but the others quickly find out that isn't the case. Tarlok's bloodbending is revealed in front of everybody, and now he goes back to take Korra hostage and form a new plan to take over the city.. but Aman shows up and attacks Tarlok.. his bloodbending doesn't even work against Aman.. so I guess Aman must be a cyborg or something? Aman took Tarlok's bending away, and Korra managed to escape from Aman's henchmen on her own because they underestimated her.
While Korra was captured, she meditated and saw visions of Aang fighting a bloodbender, Aang took his bending away...
