|I am already seeing how this game is a major improvement over king of swing... it's just much faster and more fluid controls. You jump-attack by just pressing A. You can also do the L+R normal jump which lets you grab onto the next thing more easily. You can grab onto anything while falling just by holding a shoulder button. The 2 screens give you more space to see things (and the minigames make use of this). You can also get Diddy from a DK barrel, and launch him up while attacking to do an extended attack, he probably has other uses too later on.|
I completed all of world 1 with 100% of the collectables. There's a variable amount of banana coins to get in each level, as well as a DK coin, and an some levels have an oil barrel. Getting all the oil barrels in a world lets Funky take you to the last level of that world (the 2nd last level of the world has a boss at the end of it, instead of bosses being their own level).
I then tried out the challenges I've unlocked... There were tutorial versions of all of these in the first level.
The log jumping minigame reminds me of that beetle race from SMRPG kinda.. I got AAA rank on all levels of this challenge except endless, which I could only get an A on. Getting high enough for an AAA on endless seems like it would take a ton of focus and patience...
The banana grabbing game is hard... very strict timing on when you can grab them, and lots of spikey things among the bananas that stun you if you grab them... because of the difficulty and also my L button sometimes not being great, I didn't get any AAA ranks or even all A ranks.. and couldn't even get the lowest rank score on endless...
The climbing race game is like the ones from King of Swing, only without other kongs in the way, and the courses seem a bit harder to make up for it. Speedrunning these for AAA rank would be WAY too frustrating. I ragequit before even unlocking the endless one.
There's also cheats that can be unlocked by collecting banana coins and DK coins... I guess I'll try them out later
oh and there's 11 extra stages you unlock by beating the game and getting all the banana coins.
