|Zukko is starting to lose his fire bending powers... he doesn't feel as much rage now as he used to, and he doesn't know how else to do it... the dragons, which were the original source of firebending, are extinct now thanks to the fire lord Zouzen.|
They sneak into an ancient fire temple, and copy the dance moves of a circle of statues to find an ancient artifact... the people there catch them trying to steal it. Aang and Zukko explain that they are hear as the Avatar and his fire bending teacher... they are still mad at Zukko because his ancestors are responsible for making the dragons go extinct.
They have to pass a trial where the carry a piece of the sacred flame (the first fire given to humans by the dragons), to the firebending master. They have to maintain a constant heat. Too low, and the fire goes out. Too high, and it engulfs you.
Aang comments that the flame feels like a living thing...
Fire is life, not just destruction.Their flames went out by the time they got to the masters (who were a giant red and blue dragon). The dragons circled around them, and Aang reasoned that they should do the dragon dance that they learned from the statues... this worked, and the dragons showed them the "light" of firebending.
Aang used to think firebending was just destruction.. now he knows it is energy/life.
Sakka convinces Zukko to help him break his dad out of the boiling rock, the high security fire nation prison... when they get there, their balloon gets destroyed, and Sakka reveals he didn't really have a plan beyond just coming into the prison... Sakka doesn't find his dad, but he does find his girlfriend, the leader of the Kyoshi warriors. He comes up with a plan to escape, but that didn't work.. then his dad arrived as a new prisoner, the two of them came up with another escape plan that did work...
