|Case 5 part 2 summary:|
Sebastian Debeste finally returns to the trial to take over as prosecutor, and he proves his father to be an accomplice in the prison case, hiding evidence for Patricia Roland. Just as the trial ends, agent Lang comes in with Courtney's son, and he takes both her and her son as the suspects in the president's murder. Apparently this is all connected to a case from 12 years ago, in which most of Lang's clan was killed and the president stopped trusting in Lang's police force.
John's testimony shows that Blaise Debeste was at the scene of the crime, hiding in the monster costume, and he's the one who created the monster footprints. but that doesn't necissarily make him a suspect in the murder. Then the autopsy comes in, and it proves that Courtney couldn't have killed the president by pushing him off the roof, and that John is actually the main culprit... John admits that he accidentally left the heater on, and that caused a fire that must've made the monster head fall off the roof and kill the president.
But Edgeworth insists the case is not over. The person who kidnapped John, placed a bug on Kay, and wrote the fake letter from Kay saying something about revenge for 12 years ago... Lang tells him about the case from 12 years ago, where the president was kidnapped for ransom, and a witness was killed, the culprit of that murder was Patricia Roland, but she was found not guilty. Lang himself wasn't involved in that case, and he doesn't have access to the evidence. Then Ray and Fran suddenly show up... They give him the case files from 12 years ago, and say that Blaise was the prosecutor in charge of that case.
