|Episode 22 - Sakura's Clear Cards|
Wow, this is the greatest way they could've possibly ended this season... such an amazing cliffhanger.
woah... This first scene says a lot without saying much... The transparent cards are floating in a void, when suddenly they shatter, and the shards all combine together to form Sakura's new key that she uses in this arc, and you see the glowy background that by now you recognize as Kaito's magic aura. And then you here some guy's voice saying:
You can never return. Then you see someone's hand reaching out for Sakura's key. It's Akiho, doing this in her sleep...
Both Akiho and Sakura had this dream, and both wake up with their arm stretched out, reaching for something.
It seemed like a dream, but it was so vivid. But at the same time, it didn't seem like reality... I was so scared.
The episode title drops as Sakura and Kero are looking over at the pink winged bear, and really ominous music is playing.
Akiho describes her dream to Kaito, it seems to be from a different perspective than Sakura's dream.
At first, it felt like I was inside the book, and it was fun.
I was in Clock Land. I met Alice and all kinds of strange creatures, and had some strange experiences...
Oh, right! There was a mirror! A mirror that could copy magic.
But after that, the sound of the clock grew really loud, and I heard something breaking, somewhere.
Then I heard a voice. It said, "You can never return."And throughout the dream, I thought Alice seemed very similar to me, but today...
She seems to be trailing off into a trance again as she looks at the Clock Land book. Kaito says
Have you heard of "contrary dreams"? It refers to dreams that are the opposite of reality.
If you had a scary dream, what would its opposite be?
After Akiho leaves for school, Momo talks to Kaito about this.
I hope it was a contrary dream. But it could also be one that comes true.
I won't let it. No matter what.
As Sakura walks to school, Kero is with her acting really worried... but he can't tell her that her dreams might be something that her magic is causing... Flashback to when Kero and Yue were cut off from contact with Eriol, and they decided that since they don't know the exact reason that Eriol didn't tell Sakura that she's been making these new cards, they probably shouldn't tell her either.
And that magician?
He hasn't tried doing anything to Sakura yet... And man, Sakura and Akiho are such good buddies now. Do we really wanna make Sakura start suspecting her?Yue agrees to keep quiet to Sakura about this, but makes Kero promise to stay with her at all times.
I won't leave her, but I can't exactly go into her dreams.
Sakura and Akiho both look spaced out in class... When the English teacher asks Sakura a question where the answer is the word "Hope", she thinks of her 52nd Sakura card... I'm guessing this is what the anime is gonna lean on to end differently from the manga version.
lmao, during this lunch scene, Kero gets mad when he hears Yamazaki butcher the Osakan accent.
This really doesn't feel like a last episode in terms of what the characters are doing... but in terms of where the plot is going in Sakura and Akiho's dreams it certainly feels last-episode-ish. Obviously, Kaito is a powerful enough magician that he can infiltrate people's dreams, and that's where all the finale-type stuff is happening... while in the real world it's like just another cozy slice of life episode.
Yamazaki continues and goes on this strangely serious rant about the meaning of words...
Of course, words are all about how you interpret them. Some people interpret "chau" as "no," and others would think it's the dog. A word might be a nickname for someone, or it might be part of some regional dialect. So I hope people will interpret words in the way that brings the most happiness.
Akiho seems to notice something strange when she looks at Sakura.
Kero overhears Syaoran when he comes back talking about how he his important phone call that made him show up late didn't go through, and realizes that Syaoran's communication with Eriol has been cut off as well.
Akiho is watching Sakura in cheerleading practice from out the window of the music club room, and Tomoyo goes and talks to her about how she's been looking at Sakura a lot lately. She gets Akiho to open up and tell her about these dreams she's been having...
This might be rude of me to say, but Sakura-san and I...
You're very similar to each other. And that's not rude at all. It would make Sakura-chan very happy!
You really think so?
Does it bother you?
It makes me very, very happy!
But when I think that I might be doing something to bother Sakura-san...
Did something happen?
I have these dreams. Remember the book I showed you, Alice in Clock Land?Wow... Akiho and Sakura's similarities even go as far as both of them telling Tomoyo about their secrets...
It came to me just now... that Tomoyo has very similar powers of intuition to what Touya had... Maybe they both got it from their Daidouji bloodline.
And then this next reveal probably surprises even Tomoyo.
I have dreams about that book. The dreams follow the book's story, and it progresses a little, each time. Lots of different things happen to Alice, but... In the one I had today, something scary caught her, and...
And in this dream, Alice... looked like Sakura-san.
Sakura suddenly remembers that ominous voice/words in her dreams, and looks up at Akiho in the window... this is some really chilling build-up going on.
At night, Touya goes up to Sakura and messes up her hair as she's about to go to bed.
Syaoran is still trying to contact Eriol, and knows by now that it's Kaito's magic that is blocking his calls.
His magic can do even that? Even if it can... I will protect her!
Sakura talks to Kero while he's drying her hair, about how she's glad all this stuff happened and she was able to meet Yue and everyone... Then suddenly she falls into Kaito's dream spell... Kero snaps her out if it, and she suddenly goes to open the blinds, and meets...
It's the one I saw in my dream. Is this a dream?
No, it ain't no dream!
She immediately summons Flight and goes out to confront this person, without any hesitation.
Kero gets blocked out from helping with Sakura, just like what happened with him and Yue when Eriol was attacked. Jeez don't burn the house down.
We've met in my dreams, right? Is there something you want to tell me? Something you want me to do?
Tell me. Are you...
I had this thought just now... maybe this time wizard/Akiho is actually Sakura's Hope card? Kaito stole it and shattered all of Sakura's other cards... and they went transparent and got aborbed into Kaito's clock spell...
The mage starts throwing shards of glass at Sakura... Kero tells her to run, but instead she summons Blaze to try and block the attack. The ball of glass just kind of absorbs the attack, and gives the mage the ability to shoot fire... Sakura blocks it with Aqua, and it gets defeated and the mage starts shooting homing fireballs at her.
omg I think this mage is actually taking Sakura's magic items away... it's reminding me a LOT of the Hope card right now.
Sakura is already preparing the next attack while flying away from the fireballs... she destroys them with Spiral.
I don't think there's enough time left in the episode for this, but holy shit would it be crazy awesome if Sakura had to use every single one of her cards for this final battle.
It looks like Sakura has realized she can't run from this mage... and the mage goes and reaches out her hand and makes Sakura's staff turn back into a key... oh shit the Flight card... and the mage is taking Sakura's key away... okay this is actually intense.
No! No... Don't go over there!
With her other hand, she starts pulling Sakura's Clear Cards out of her pocket.
Syaoran's queue to show up? I mean obviously... but then again he's probably not even close to Sakura/Akiho/Kaito's level.
oh shit not quite... Sakura sees Akiho's face behind the mage's hood as she's falling, and at that exact moment, Kaito shows up and stops time.
omg... the dream synchronization ritual... Sakura and Akiho's dream occurring in real life, and both of their dream selves meeting each other face to face...
Momo and Kaito are the only ones unaffected by this time stop magic.
You used the time magic again.
It was an emergency.
He starts walking down off invisible stairs from the streetlight, and asks Momo how Akiho is.
Dreaming, just like always. Put simply, she's acting in her sleep.
Will she remember?
Even if she does, it will be as something in her dream. But Sakura-san... She'll probably remember it.
Then, I have no choice.
Wait. You're really going to do this?
These cards aren't enough... to activate that magic.
Is this... confirmation of another season?
Tina Rie Triax.
Time, in accordance with the covenant, turn back.
Even for you, turning back time that far is insane.
Even you have stayed here, so you can see the activation of the taboo magic, have you not?
Well, that's one reason. The other is...
Kaito turned back time to right before where Sakura managed to sense Akiho's presence and looked outside.
I wonder... Is Sakura strong enough at this point that she can reverse Kaito's load state spell? Like she practically almost brought her mom back to life with that Record Card spell she used a couple episodes ago. Seems like she can go back in time way farther than that easily... Or is her time travel magic not the same kind of taboo magic that Kaito is using to reverse time?
Momo's powers are strong enough that she can remember when she came back from a time reversal spell... and I think she's wondering if Sakura would be able to remember as well.
She did seem to notice something a little bit there, enough to interrupt what she was saying to Kero.
Huh? "Everyone is here for me, so I..."</spoiler>
You weren't done talkin' yet, right? Sakura?
So I'm not alone.
I'm sure I'll be all right.
Atta girl! I knew you'd make a great Cardcaptor Sakura!
The next morning, Sakura treats it like just any other day and goes to meet Syaoran on the way to school.
Oh wait, nevermind, this Leave it to-Kero segment was the best way they could've possibly ended this season.
Hidey-howdy-ho! Leave It to Kero-chan!</spoiler>
Time flies like an arrow! This marks the final episode of <i>Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card</i>, which means this segment's end, too. Last up, I'm introducin'...
A golden body and white wings, and isn't that smooth hip line sexy? The rapid-fire talks I give are so cool, they're loved by all ages!
And next time, my new segment,
<i>Kero-chan's Eat Till You Drop</i>, begins...
(Suppi: That show doesn't exist)
Yum! I'll eat tasty world foods, and show how amazing and cool I am.
(Suppi: To be precise, the idea was scrapped)
Anyway, thanks for watchin'! I look forward to seein' y'all again!
