|This movie was pretty much just like an extended episode of the series. The story is kind secondary to all the great looking background scenery and overly cutesy humor. |
Plot recap: <spoiler /><spoiler>
Everyone's seeing off Cocoa at the train, and she's crying as if she's going away forever... but then Rize mentions to Megu and Maya that she's just going home for a week.
Cocoa meets Aoyama in the train, who says she's going on a journey of self-discovery, and she also hints at a fireworks festival that is happening soon. Then her manager shows up.
Before you go discovering yourself, please discover some stories for your novel, Aoyama-sensei!
Cocoa tries to surprise her family when she shows up, but instead, her mom and sister surprise her by pretending to be Rabbit House employees. Cocoa tries to call Chino as soon as she gets home, but Mocha reminds her that there's no phone reception here in the mountains, so she goes and uses the landline phone instead... but at that same time, Chino gets a call from Rize's dad, saying something about fireworks.
Chino is dozing off and making a bunch of iced cocoa for no reason, and Maya and Megu are slacking off, when Rize shows up and starts yelling at them like a drill sergeant. Then Chino tells them about when she first met Rize.
From that day, I could never tell which one of us was the senpai.
Syaro and Chiya go and see Rize, and they can tell she's also thinking about Cocoa a lot. Rize was making Chino do a lot of work to get her mind off Cocoa, and now these 3 are dealing with their Cocoa-less lives in their own way.
Chino is disappointed that Cocoa hasn't called her yet, but then she gets a call from Cocoa that night, saying she had to go to town to get reception... Cocoa tells Chino to invite everyone to the fireworks festival that she heard was happening this week, even though she won't be there.
Chino starts to really appreciate the stuffed rabbit that Rize gave her, after she notices that it was handmade by her. Then her and Megu and Maya ask Rize to teach them how to make a stuffed rabbit.
Later, Chino invites everyone to the fireworks festival just like Cocoa told her to. Then it goes to some scenes of Cocoa helping out her big sister and mom... the 3 of them all have the same personalities and they each keep trying to one-up each other in "big sister" kindness. The mom is the best at it, and pretends to have a hand injury so that Cocoa and Mocha can handle the shop on their own and have the opportunity to spend a lot more time together. Also we get some backstory showing that Cocoa wanted to become a witch when she was younger.
Chino says she wants to make a witch-themed stuffed rabbit for Cocoa, and then there's this weird scene where Cocoa is dreaming about being a witch and turning everything into rabbits... and then Chino shows up and transforms into a magical girl and turns all of Cocoa's rabbits into the white fluffy ball rabbits like the one she always wears on her head.
When Mocha is driving Cocoa to the train station, Cocoa tells her that she wants to be like her most of all...
At the fireworks festival, just as Chino was thinking that she wanted to see the fireworks with Cocoa, Cocoa shows up exactly at the same time that the fireworks start. She explains that Aoyama helped her find where they all are.
