|Episode 8 - The Horrible Trap of Summoner Ascot|
Ascot is now even more pissed at the magic knights for destroying two of his beasts, and now he summons a giant wolf to go after them.
As Mokona is leading the Magic Knights toward the Rune-God, they see a bunch of animals freaking out and running away, and up ahead is a field of dead animals and a rock monster. Hikaru goes to save this one small animal, and Fuu takes out the rock monster with her powered up sword. Mokona poofs out a first-aid kit to help the injured animal that Hikaru saved.
As they're about to leave, the animal follows Hikaru and makes her want to stay with it for a bit until it has recovered enough to survive on its own. She even gives it the name "Hikari". Fuu and Umi think they shouldn't get distracted from their important task, but then concede and decide to camp out here since it's almost night time anyway.
This is such a mean trick. Ascot is a really cold-hearted asshole. The next morning, Hikaru goes out for a walk with the creature, and it leads her into a flower field deep in the forest, and while she's picking flowers, the monster changes back to its original form. Umi and Fuu noticed that she was missing and didn't come back for breakfast, so they go out looking for her, and just as they arrive to see Hikaru and the monster, Ascot orders the monster to start attacking them.
Hikaru seems like an idiot here, and still wants to believe the creature is a good guy even after it starts attacking her and her friends. But her kindness is making the monster calm down, and it's disobeying Ascot's orders as Hikaru goes to tend to its leg wound. But then Ascot yells at it even louder, and that makes it aggressive again. The monster's fire breath attacks start burning the forest around it and destroying all the other animals' homes. By now, Umi is constrained by the monster's tail and Fuu is knocked out, and Hikaru realizes she's the only one who can save her friends and all the other animals and that finally makes her turn against this monster that she's gotten way too fond of after only knowing it for half a day.
Hikaru's sword evolves as she goes to kill the monster, and Umi uses her water magic to put out the forest fire. Hikaru and Umi are both sad as they realize the creature was being controlled by Zagato's minion and it wasn't his fault.
This episode was very filler-ish, I guess it was mainly to show that Hikaru actually has weaknesses and isn't just a mary sue. Next episode looks like some really interesting stuff is going down.
