Route C playthrough log part 1
So this starts off a bit after where routes A and B end. I bet I'll gain access to all the missions that I couldn't figure out before, like the YoRHa Betrayers one. 9S has a new body now, and he's being ordered to go around hacking all the machines that are patrolling the rooftops of the city. The commander is handholding him every step of the way and treating him like a child and telling him not to engage in combat.
Then as soon as you're done with that easily little mission, you switch back to 2B and fight an onslaught of multiplying machines in the city alongside 9S and a bunch of other androids. I forgot how much more intense the combat can get with 2B, where you can't hack machines and instead you're just supposed to dodge and fight really well. The difficulty still isn't anything special on normal mode, but at least it's not non-existent anymore like it was in route B.
It's all going well, until some machines start using cloaking technology and they somehow defeat all the combat androids at once and start infecting them. Then you switch back to 9S and have to jump in to hack 2B to get her back to normal. All the other androids turn red-eyed and start attacking us at that point. This fight against like 50 androids is crazy, it's unlike any of the machine battles that were in the earlier game.
It seems like the battle against an endless supply of YoRHa androids is gonna go on forever, and they can't communicate with command due to a server-side error, so 2B and 9S decide to detonate their black boxes in order to respawn at the bunker so they can tell the commander directly what's going on. At first she doesn't believe them, and accuses the 2 of them of being infected instead... but then suddenly all the androids at the bunker except the commander get infected as well. 9S explains that he noticed something weird about the server and stopped his and 2B's synchronization with it earlier (probably talking about what happened near the end of route B), so that's why we're the only ones who didn't get infected.
So it seems like some machines infected the YoRHa command server somehow. The commander stays behind in the bunker because she's also getting infected, and the other 2 escape in flight units while the bunker is self destructing.
aw man what the hell... I dunno exactly what happened, but 2B separated from 9S and crash landed in the Flooded ruins area while fighting a bunch of YoRHa flight units.. Then she got infected, and had to go to the mall ruins in order to avoid affecting other androids, but since your movement and combat abilities are hindered, I got killed by some machines as soon as I got to City Ruins, and then it restarted me all the way back at the part before everyone got infected.
Guess this time I'll save when I get to the bunker.
That part where 2B is infected and has to get to the mall is really hard. I don't know how to get up to that area while avoiding all the machines, and I had to fight some of them off with my pod's attacks while using tons of recovery and buff items to try and reduce damage.
Once I got there, the infection was nearly at 100%, and A2 came and killed 2B and took her memories... 9S got to the bridge just as 2B was dying, and he screamed and ran towards her, but fell off the bridge due to the earthquake... The earthquake was caused by some large white structure coming up out of the ground.
Now 2B's pod asks the player which character to go and support. So I guess here the route diverges and you can choose to either play as A2 or play as 9S. Let's go with A2 for now.
At this point, I'm not sure what to do next. This is an odd situation where the game doesn't give you the next objective, and A2 refuses to state her objective for the pod who keeps asking her. After walking around for a while, she finally gives in and tells him that her objective is to kill all the machines. This gives you a new objective to kill some goliath-class machines that were detected in the desert.
This desert boss is really hard. I keep getting fucked by its laser attacks and other shit that I can't even do anything about when it surrounds me. It took me a few tries.
Then there's a hacking sequence where A2 deals with a bunch of new info in her head from taking 2B's memories.
Now there's another choice... 9S's pod can choose to monitor A2 or 9S. I guess I'll go with 9S this time?
9S was unconscious for a couple weeks until some medical units brought him back to full health. There's a new sidequest available in the Resistance Camp where 9S started out in. I didn't bother looking for new sidequests while playing as A2, because I assumed I was gonna be doing more stuff with her after defeating that desert boss.
9S tells his pod that his next objective is to kill all the machines and A2. He no longer cares about establishing the chain of command.
The tower that appeared in the sky has an elevator going up to it in the central part of the city ruins, but 9S can't get into it even through hacking, and the machines in charge of this thing are taunting him and telling him to collect the key items that are required to enter the tower.
