|Episode 9 - The Great Fault|
In this world, there is nothing as impartial as death. For all living creatures, death is sure to eventually come knocking. Death is an equalizer... It is an absolute truth... And it is always lingering right beside us. Nevertheless, people make the best use of their wits and courage... Struggling... Floundering... They cling to life until the very end. You see, we actually like this unjust unequal world...[/quote]
They don't actually jump down the great fault, but take a small tunnel that Ozen told them about. It leads down to a hole in the wall of the Great Fault, and from there they distracted the flying monsters with some bait and then jumped across to another hole in the wall which lead further down.
Then they came across the ruins of a ship that is sticking out of the wall, and Riko started excitedly exploring it for relics... but instead she found the nest of one of the flying creatures. Regu had no choice but to use his incinerator on it... and that alerted the crimson lockjaw to their location. This is the same monster that Regu used his incinerator on in the first episode to save Riko, and he tracked them down to get revenge.
Regu passes out just as soon as they jump down a small hole to safety. Riko starts dragging Regu around by his extendable arms to search for food. Just as she's about to give up, she smells some food, and then falls into an obvious trap and ends up inside some big creature's stomach... She ties Regu's arms around herself and uses a knife to cut open the stomach and escape... wow, she made it through that like it was nothing... but then she gets attacked by a horde of those small creatures that she used as bait for the flying creatures earlier... can't she just use her knife to fight them off and use them for food? No, instead she just runs away for some reason.
Then an even bigger problem... she comes out into this crystalline cave, and the only way out to escape from the small white creatures is up a huge slope. She knows she can't ascend that high without being affected by the curse, but has no choice, and ontop of that she still needs to drag Regu along with her.
She starts hallucinating and seeing/hearing all her friends again... and then she goes into a full hallucination where her mom is taking her back up to Orth on a gondola, and then she freaks out when she realizes Regu isn't there with her.
Somehow, she ends up at the top of the slope... but then the crimson lockjaw shows up... Riko suddenly remembers she has that new weapon and decides to try and use it against this thing, and then Regu wakes up and she throws the weapon to him to take care of it instead. That was really awesome how Regu immediately jumped into action the moment he regained consciousness.
lol too bad they didn't think of using this weapon earlier against the flying creature instead of using the incinerator on it. The episode ends just as they're approaching the Goblet of Giants.
