|Episode 7 - The Unmovable Sovereign|
There are those who absolutely refused to stop pushing forward. On occasion, they become one with their personal convictions, transforming into karma itself. Those beings, who while human, have also transcended humanity, and continue to watch over everything with the gaze of inhuman eyes.
Back on the surface, Habo is telling Nat and Shiggy about the Immovable white whistle Ozen, who has had rumors passed around about her for the last 50 years. Apparently she used a certain relic to greatly increase her strength. That explains how she was able to help carry Lyza's kid in the curse-repelling relic all the way back to the surface... He isn't allowed to say any more about Ozen than what the rumors tell, because it's classified information , and he starts wishing he had come with Riko to help protect her from Ozen.
Whoa... this suddenly got even darker than usual... Ozen shows Riko the vessel that saved her life, and this white cube opens up into a gross fleshy looking thing, and says there's more to it than that... Riko actually died when she was born, and when Ozen put her into this cube, she returned to life. That headless monster from last night was the result of Ozen messing around and putting some of her dinner inside this thing. She says the creatures that get revived by this cube only stay alive for so long after they come out of it, and wonders how much longer Riko will last.
She says Riko is the same thing as that meat she put into the cube last night... and both had started wanting to head towards the bottom of the abyss for whatever reason. Ozen is now acting like a really creepy demon thing lurking overtop of Riko...
Finally Regu butts in and tries to get her to stop, seeing that she's obviously trying to hurt Riko. Ozen taunts him, and explains the reason why his kind (Aubades) aren't known about is because they come from the bottom of the Abyss, which is considered a sacred place of forbidden knowledge that the people of Orth now see as their god... If the bottom of the abyss were to be discovered, then its power as a god-like entity would start to wane.
Ozen proclaims she wants to kill Regu before he regains his memory... Regu tries to fight her, but his extending arms do nothing to her. Then after Ozen injures Riko, he starts charging up his hand lazer, trying to make it fire a more concentrated shot so that it doesn't burn down the entire Seeker Camp... But Ozen just grabs his hand and points it toward Riko. Regu just barely deflects his blast away to save her. Then she starts brutally beating up on Reg, testing out how sturdy his body is. Riko is crying for him, saying she doesn't care if she has a short life, as long as she's able to be with Regu and head towards the bottom of the abyss.
Later, Regu wakes up while Ozen is still stomping on him, then she stops... They're now accompanied by Ozen's cave raider squad, a bunch of adults who look much friendlier than her. Regu starts crying with Riko because he realizes he's failed in his promise to look after her. Marulk called on these guys to come in order to stop Ozen from acting so mean.
Then Ozen reveals that she was testing these two... she already knew that Regu wouldn't break apart no matter how much he was attacked.
The primeval creatures that inhabit the deeper parts of the abyss are far more cunning and tough than I am. You won't be able to protect that girl.
Well to be fair, he probably would've destroyed her with his incinerator blast if he didn't have to take the time to make sure the Seeker Camp wasn't destroyed as well.
Before leaving, Ozen tells Riko the one thing she lied about was Lyza being dead... Ozen dug up the grave and found nothing there, and proclaims that she must be still alive. I guess that implies she was NOT lying about Riko being a zombie, and that stuff about Aubades being a forbidden secret...
Jeez, that wrapped up a lot more smoothly than I was expecting. So Ozen isn't really evil, that's just how severe the training has to be for people that wish to go down passed the 2nd layer...
The episode ends with a flashback scene showing what I assume is Lyza as a child, talking to her teacher Ozen. She tells Lyza about why she wears her hair and cloths the way she does to cover everything up.
They don't manifest immediately like the sixth layer's curse does, but if you tread the boundaries of sanity as well as life and death each time you descend, the skin on your head is bound to get all twisted.
So I guess Ozen's weird creepy vibes are just a result of the curse making her kind of insane. Now she's taking Riko and Regu to some remote area for a training lesson. She explains that areas like this where the light from the abyss's forcefield doesn't reach, only contains docile creatures, but even so this area is still dangerous. She instructs them to try and survive on their own in this area for 10 days, and warns Regu against using his incinerator since it'll put him out of commission for two hours and Riko will likely die without his protection in that time.
