|I forgot how good this route was... and this adaptation seems to do everything right. It's like, easily the best way to re-experience the Heaven's Feel route if you've already played the VN.|
Again, just like when I watched UBW while high... this story feels like a really well done fighting game plot. Except this time the route diverges a lot after the Lancer vs. Archer fight (which this movie just skims through really quickly, because they know their audience had already most likely seen it in the UBW series), and then when Shirou goes to talk to Kirei, he learns right away about Kotomine's backstory and Saber's connection to him... and then the first battle you see in the movie is between Saber and Berserker... Archer is still out of commission from the Lancer fight I think.
Sakura, the crazy yandere girl who I'm pretty sure ends up being this route's true final boss, is upset at Shirou for coming home injured, and then she starts to blame Saber and Tohsaka.
I like how they justified why Archer doesn't pursue his personal business in this route... I bet Tohsaka probably won't let him, since she cares a lot about her sister who is in Shirou's care... She probably already knows that Sakura is Rider's master...
Zouken is the one that looks like he'll be the final boss at first, but I'm pretty sure he's actually the 2nd or 3rd last boss... I forget whether Kirei/Gilgamesh end up being fought before or after Zouken/Assassin/Caster/Dark Saber.
That part at the end where Rider shows up just in time to save Shirou... that was great... it's like you can tell that the good Sakura is still in control of Rider, and that her bad side is probably more in Zouken's control (which is why she kept helping Assassin by giving him more darkness to hide in, just when it looked like he was about to lose).
I think next movie is gonna be going further into Illya and Berserker's involvement.
