Samus lands her ship in some space station in a sector of the galaxy that is very unregulated and out of the Federation's jurisdiction... There's a lot of little lore scans if you look around with the scan visor, but not as many as in Metroid Prime 1, and they are all much easier to find.
"The secret to ultimate power lies in the Alimbic Cluster."
Binary irregularities indicate the message was broadcast telepathically.
hmm... yeah I'm pretty sure my first playthrough was very rushed and I probably didn't even try to scan stuff except what was required. I don't remember these details at all. There's some really neat story in this if you take your time and scan everything... I'm disappointed that I can't screenshot all of the interesting stuff this time like in my Metroid Prime 1 log posts.
This first section reminds me of the tutorial ship sections in Super Metroid and Metroid Prime... how it's kinda just all super easy, straight linear path with nothing but easy flying drone enemies that take like 2 hits to kill... Although it starts to feel more like an actual proper first level as well. There's a thing where you have to find the 3 artifacts in this area to activate a portal, and they are all protected by shields that you can unlock by finding the shield key...
And then there's the first miniboss battle. Kandan, the electrical visor disrupting enemy just appears randomly in the hallway on your way back to the ship. This boss is kinda interesting, especially since you don't have lock-on like in MP1. Beat it while losing less than half of my 2 tanks of energy.
These artifact descriptions are quite... scientific, like explaining how the power the portal in a very Star Trek sort of way...
Got a bit lost on where to go in these samey looking hallways for a bit... then I found the portal leading back to Ship Deck... yeah I definitely need to save. oh and going in your ship is how you access Weapon Select and Logbook...
Apparently I already have 59% of Samus's equipment at this point... maybe I'll lose some of it after this introductory area is finished or something... or maybe not. Maybe it's the same as Metroid 2's format where you start out with missiles and morph ball/bombs right at the beginning and go up from there.
23% of object scans, 8% of bioform scans, and 1% of lore scans so far.
Found a portal that leads to an inaccessible chamber... woah this looks really cool. This atmosphere is reminding me a lot of the Impact Crater from Metroid Prime 1... but not exactly the same, like it has its own identity to it.
The Stronghold Void... this is what the 3 artifacts are locking away... With these weird spirally organic architecture designs, it's like I'm going into a vortex to hell or something.
And here's the first real boss... a bit rotating tower thing. For bosses like this where their weak spot will always be in plain sight, it's better to just stand around and attack while not dodging any attacks and just outgun him.
There's a missable scan in this boss room.
Biodefense Chamber A
This room serves not only as home to our most sacred treasure, but also as a mortal terminus for those who would trespass.
Picked up an Octolith, the reward for defeating the boss in this Stronghold Void area.
That escape sequence was kinda intense... finding my way back to the gunship with that shortcut portal offline was trickier than I anticipated. There was even a miniboss battle against some Alymbic Androids or whatever they're called... their AI is like Perfect Dark multiplayer bots set to easy mode.
Samus flees the Celestial Archives and goes to the nearest planet in the Alymbic Cluster, Alinos.
