|I just played for another nearly 6 hours today.|
I didn't do much else in New Donk City after doing the festival... Now that I'm not high I'm starting to notice how very easy all of these moons are... I don't mind though. This is the "good" kind of easy where it's so fun mechanically that you can create your own challenge from it.
Before moving onto the snowy kingdom, I went back to Cap Kingdom to try and get some stuff there. It's changed around a bit after Bowser and the Broodles left. Now the hat people are starting to repair their airships, and Captain Toad is in the place where the boss was... and now there are paragoombas, making it possible to explore the outer section where it's all cloudy bottomless pits. There's also a lot of stuff you can only reach as a frog. I felt like I got everything I could, but I'm still not quite done here yet... I guess more will open up in the post game.
hmm... I'm not really into the idea of revisiting every level right now if I'm gonna have to revisit them again in the post-game anyway.
I then went through the next 3 worlds. The Snow Kingdom, the Seaside Kingdom, and Luncheon Kingdom.
The Snow Kingdom felt very short... at first, there's a snowstorm outside, and the visibility is so low that you're obviously not supposed to explore the outdoor section yet, and instead you go into a big indoor village of these round bouncy people... and there are 4 doors branching off into linear mini-stages that each have about 2 moons in them (1 of them is usually well hidden)... then you fight the boss, and then afterwards the snowstorm goes away and you can explore the outdoor section. The water is too cold to swim in, but the outer hills are not icey at all and you can just run up them easily...
The Seaside Kingdom is my favorite so far. It feels a lot like those Galaxy beach levels, and kinda like a Banjo-Kazooie level as well. There's a ton of stuff to explore underwater as a cheep cheep... the crazy interesting level designs just don't let up... and above water there's a bunch of high up cliffs that you need to transform into a water shooting enemy (reminds me of Sunshine), and this enemy is REALLY fun to play as, and there's a nice mini-challenge level using him... and there's the hot pepper thing for running on the water... and omg I just love this level...
The Luncheon Kingdom was where I started thinking of quitting for the night, but again it was just so good I just kept going... this is the lava level... except it doesn't have the aesthetic of a usual Mario lava level, and you can turn into a podoboo to swim through the lava as well as create lava puddles with a certain enemy so you can hop across with the podoboo... and cutting through cheese with the hammer bro... and omg this level is amazing too...
Those previous 3 levels, I think I got all the moons I could get at the time (and it looks like almost half of them are only available post-game?), and almost all the purple coins except for a handful that I'm missing somewhere.
Oh yeah, and in Luncheon Kingdom I found the portal to the Mushroom Kingdom... But I couldn't actually go up to Peach's Castle from there. It just let me get a nice view.
