|now I'm at an indoor section... a narrow walled in bullet bill maze, where most of the time if you hit the wall you die.|
that took a few tries... then after exploring the ground of the desert... the landscape and auto camera angles just work together to subtly point you toward the main objective... that rail platform section, I think that was the path to the airship... I could warp back via the map system and try going there again... or I could try entering the bottom of that pyramid... this feels a lot like the SMB3 or Kirby's Adventure style stage selection design... except instead of a flat icon map screen, the open kingdom area itself is the map screen that you explore to find levels in... and returning to the Odyssey ship is the warp system that takes you back to earlier kingdoms, and the next boss door is always your main goal in each kingdom... she upside down pyramid and airship that the game keeps pointing me back towards, that's the boss door of this kingdom... I bet the pyramid is like the front door that takes a lot longer, and the upper rail platform path goes to the back door where you can get to the next kingdom much faster.
oh man... how is this game gonna handle the "star road" system, if it has something like that at all?
I think I was a little spoiled on this, but it could be that <spoiler /><spoiler>
the painting I heard of that takes you to Peach's Castle in the Mushroom Kingdom is the star road/special world of this game... and even better... imagine if the mushroom kingdom included an actual re-imagined Star Road you can visit that's like an extra hard linear 3D World style stage.
I forgot to mention another thing I really really like about the map screen... it's basically in the same format as the EarthBound player's guide, except it also has an interactive map sandwiched between the pages... it's amazing.
hmm.. looks like there's some bonus game stuff I missed back at the town... I guess I'll warp there first and maybe explore a bit more and see if that pyramid entrance really is the one way to progress or not.
