|Secret 1: Exercise in the Skies|
Wow, this one is really tough... first some fast rail platforms and spinny rail ball platforming... then jumping across falling blocks... I screwed up on the right path and used hover to save myself and take the left path. it wasn't too hard, it was generous with checkpoints.
Extra 1: Poochy Ain't Stupid
The level where Poochy is stupid. Seriously wtf he runs past the autoscroll without me and makes me fall in the lava... it's like, Poochy is mostly an obstacle here, I should probably just stay off him whenever I can flutter instead.
wow that was insanely hard... at some point I got good enough at the first half that I was like, doing it automatically without even thinking about it... that part in the 2nd half with the rotating spikes killed me a lot, after I got passed that, I finally beat the level after missing just one of those red coins at the end...
Secret 2: Mystery of the Castle?
a maze level... feels like a Mario World ghost house...
it's also not easy to navigate... like at some point you hop across a death spike pit where baseball bandits throw eggs at you and might hit the spike-platform switch on you...
lol what is this part... there's these ball platforms that switch between moving back and forth horizontally and vertically by shooting them... and I'm juggling between two different kinds at once through the whole thing. instead of wasting eggs, it's way easier.
I pretty much know which red coin I missed, but apparently I'm missing another section somewhere with a flower...
Extra 2: Hit That Switch!
wow this one's really fun! it gives you 30 stars at the beginning, and the whole thing is just a big switch run with fast rail platforms in between... it's just pure skill and some memorization.
Secret 3: Go! Go! Morphing!
ugh, these frog enemies are so annoying. even just staying alive is hard. I guess I don't really care about stars since I got plenty of star items.
and then the next section is... gah, submarine! oh wait nevermind, it's just a slow underwater maze, no dodging insta-kill underwater enemies. and then after that is a kinda tricky train section, except not really, it's easy to not fall off and retry infinite times until you collect everything and figure out where the exit is.
and then the next part... wtf I can't do this... it's this GIGANTIC maze that uses like all the other transformations, besides the sub and train... it uses the helicopter, the digger, the car... and it's especially annoying figuring out where to go during the digger sections... the helicopter and car parts I like.
Extra 3: More Monkey Madness
omg this one's crazy, just pure chaos... carousel platforms in a jungle with tons of monkeys shooting at you... I hate that you can hardly see the projectiles.
wait wut... at this one early part I was having trouble with, I randomly found a bonus area up in the trees by accident.
wow... and some of the monkeys are even hidden behind trees...
96 pts, no idea where that last coin was.
Secret 4: Fight Toadies w/ Toadies
This one isn't too bad so far... bullet hopping section... and then a stilt guy hopping section (I think I missed some stuff there, it was really hard to figure out which way to go)
... and then it's a bullet hopping section with drug spores mixed in... then paratroopa hopping... then a bullet-dodging autoscroll moving platforms section...
I like this level a lot... again just pure skill, and no unfair bullshit. it's also generous with checkpoins.
lol that koopa jump at the end... float too high and die on the spikes, float too low and die in the pit... or you can just skip bouncing on the koopa and do that part easily.
damn I missed a flower somewhere.
Extra 4: The Impossible? Maze
it's a sewer maze level... tons of doors that go to other areas, one-way waterslides... and a bunch of those weird ghosts that ride yoshi and mess up your controls.
I like these kinda levels. Yoshi's Story had maze levels like this too and they were the best part of that game.
hmm... I guess I have to figure out how to push this star box to the door that's above the ground that all the arrows are pointing to.
there's actually several puzzles with these boxes... it's mostly just a matter of following the arrows... doesn't seem too hard so far.
75pts... missing 2 coins and a flower. must've missed a room somewhere.
Secret 5: Items are fun!
Wow this one is weird... the goal is right at the beginning. The only "items" I have access to are a watermelon and those throwable birds... neither of them help me get anywhere, unless there's a hidden cloud making a platform or something that I haven't been able to find because of the GBA version being zoomed in.
32pts... only found 2 coins and 1 flower.
Extra 5: Kamek's Revenge
hell yeah this level is fun. that first section is just pure skill platforming with annoying egg throwing enemies and kamek getting in the way.
lol looks like that hard to get key is actually required, it's needed to do the skiing section.
that skiing part isn't hard to survive, but it's hard to get all the stuff... and then the part after that... depending on when you jump off the last ramp, you land in one of the helicopter bubbles, and then you have to get up to the top before time runs out and without getting hit too much.
wait lmao, nevermind about that skiing part being easy, now I keep dying at this one jump
like, sometimes I'm jumping too early, sometimes I'm jumping too late... how the hell did I get it perfect the first try?
phew... that took like, 20 tries or something...
68pts... only got 8 coins and 3 flowers
Secret 6: Endless World of Yoshis
This isn't too hard so far... just a slow, small platforms autoscroll section with a bunch of enemies that don't get used much.
The 2nd section has a vertical drop spike-dodging part, and then the checkpoint already, and then a choice between 2 lava platforming sections left and right.
That door maze is crazy... if you go the wrong way at all, you have to start back from that vertical spike drop again.
Left lava path, right door, top door.
uh... what the hell are this kissey face enemies? I think there was something like these in Woolly World, but I don't think I ever saw them in this game.
that was just... a really dumb random puzzle section that felt more like a world 2 or 3 thing... I picked up a key, and now I'm back in the door maze of death wtf
Right lava path, left door, then top door... leads to another weird easy puzzle area. this just has a few coins...
The way to the key is just to never take the top door...
Then a section with a bunch of baseball bandits... and flowers and stuff that I have no idea how to get... damn I might actually need to use a guide for the world 5 and 6 extra stages this is nuts.
Extra 6: Ultimate Castle Challenge
Starts off with some rotating screws above spikes and stuff... Then a checkpoint already... then some platforming across vertical rail platforms between a ceiling and floor of spikes.
This is crazy... you jump higher whenever your jumping off an up-moving platform.
Then there's a vertical rail platform section with a bunch of egg throwing enemies on the side... lol I just now found out you can easily block against all the egg throws by just ducking.
Surprisingly... this last extra level wasn't that hard at all.
sheesh, some of these were harder than I expected... overall these were harder than the Woolly World extra levels (which there were only like, 7 of)
