It was believed that the Anthem would save the world from Hilda's curse... Instead, it heralded a host of angels who swarmed Regnant and slaughtered its people.
Chapter 9 - The End of the World
Alto/Elcrest has a dream where he remembers a bit of the time when Hilda made that promise to him... Then he's late for the meeting with the rest of the Regnant Knights and witches. Kieth is there, suggesting that he take over as king so that they can reform the kingdom and start fighting back against the angels... Archibald objects and wants to stay loyal to Anastasia... I guess Alto never told them about how Anastasia wanted Alto to lead the kingdom?
Hilda and the rest of the Harbingers show up, and Dante and Dorothy are insulting the knights for not being able to save their kingdom... Hilda says she didn't anticipate Klaus betraying them... what? So Hrodulf knew, but Hilda didn't? That makes even less sense...
Kieth says he'll become the knights' new leader if nobody else steps up... Alto decides to go check out the town before deciding. The residents all think the Regnant Knights were allied with the commander and all betrayed the Queen... Only the shopkeepers, the tavern owner, and Medea at the tuning hall still trust Alto...
oh damn... the little girl at the orb shop... she's still waiting for her dad to come home... She doesn't want to believe he might've died in the angel attack.
Alto sees Hilda outside, and she tells him to go to Dr. Veronica's place tomorrow to get more info about what happened 1000 years ago, and what's going on now.
For some reason, there's a choice here on who to talk to about this.
"Tell someone else"
lol I guess I'll tell Popo... it doesn't seem to matter much, it's just a short non-noteworthy scene...
The rest of the Harbingers think it's a waste of time waiting around for Alto and the Knights to get re-organized, but Hilda says they absolutely need the Conductor's help in order to succeed. Dorothy and Dante go off to fight the angels on their own while Hilda continues waiting for Alto.
The next day, you can still go to the 2 shops before heading out... there's no happy music playing now, and the voices of the gear shop owner and the little girl taking over for her dad at the orb shop are very sad and unenthusiastic.
Just started doing the optional battles for now instead of going to the next story thing... There's a lot of new optional battles available now.
After doing all that, I started the next story mission... Veronica's place is being attacked by angels, and she's using her own renegade angels to fight back against them...
omg, this is awful... I just had to ragequit here because I'm not enjoying this at all... as if this gameplay wasn't obnoxiously slow enough... This battle arena is in a poison swamp, and you can't move your characters more than one square at a time through it... and most of the time you can't even move your characters at all because another ally or enemy is in the way, and you can't even move AROUND your character to help fight the enemy that is they're facing...
ugh... this just isn't fun anymore... I might come back to this eventually, but right now I'd rather play other stuff.
