|Chapter 5 continued|
Those 2 twin sisters that Alto knows about are now helping the knights. Mordi, the blue haired girl is sick and depressed about her memories of the Kashmistan fire.. Niki, the green haired girl turns out to be the Earth Witch.. her mother was the previous Earth Witch who died. She was keeping it secret until she knew she could trust Alto. She agrees to a 1 on 1 duel against Hrodulf, the emotionless ex-knight who killed her mother... Alto tries to stop her, but then Kieth jumps in and knocks him out... Kieth, the mercenary from before, Niki was his boss all along..
When Alto's group tries to jump into Niki and Hrodulf's duel, Hrodulf's backup appears. Hilda shows up singing the song of ruin, and the rest of the harbingers also teleport into the battlefield... I wasn't expecting this.
This battle seems pretty tough.. but the first part of it is easy. Had Alto, Rusy, Lisette, Klaus, Nonoka, and Ewan and took out Dorothy and her bunny enemies first, while Hrodulf's henchmen slowly headed towards the Earth Witch to try and kill her... Kieth is near the Niki, attacking Hrodulf's guys with some long range attacks... then right when I'm about to defeat Dorothy, Hilda takes her and Hrodulf away from the battle, and then summons some familiars. Dante and the familiars are now attacking instead, and this is where it gets a bit hard... but I managed to keep everyone alive and used some good strategy to take out the familiars quickly.
Then Hilda summons more familiars, and we're all surrounded and it's looking hopeless, and then suddenly some uknown girl shows up, with a robotic, emotionless voice, saying stuff like "target acquired, must destroy hilda." this girl has a ridiculously strong laser attack, as well as some angel summons... the Harbingers seem really scared of these angels, and they prioritize going after them now before any of us. Still, it's a bit tricky. Some of Hilda's familiars are going after Kieth and Niki, and I had some of my guys there defending/healing Niki while Alto and Rusty are going after Dante... then finally once I defeat everybody (except for Hilda who is unreachable), Niki then gets ambushed by Dorothy and Hrodulf. They planned this all along... Hrodulf is about to kill Niki, and then Niki self destructs and kills both herself and Hrodulf...
uh... isn't this bad? Without the Earth Witch, there's nothing that can reverse Hilda's song of ruin anymore...
it gets a lot weirder... the desert barrier is back again, even though the Earth Witch is supposedly dead. Alto goes through it and finds Kieth and Mordi. Kieth is surprised that Alto hasn't realized that this whole Kashmistan area is an illusion... it turns out Mordi is the real Earth Witch, and she's been using her magic to live in this illusionary fantasy world with a projection of her sister and soulless Kashmistan residents.. meanwhile Rusty and Hrodulf are here also (I guess Hrodulf didn't get killed when that fake Niki self destructed), and they've started fighting. but this fighting has started corrupting Mordi's world, and caused her to start summoning familiars and become violent.
This battle is pretty easy, even though I'm a bit underleveled for it. Popo's song attack works really well against the poison slug familiars. Rusty, Nonoka, Sakuya, and Kieth focus on taking out the archer familiars, Lisette hangs around nearby and heals everyone, and Alto goes for the giant monster that is blocking the way to where Mordi is. This battle goes on forever with Mordi constantly summoning more familiars, until Alto goes near Mordi, so it's a really good way to level up.
Alto manages to calm Mordi down. Kieth says his job is now over.. he's been protecting Mordi in order to pay back his debt to Mordi's mom, who gave him this expensive dagger.. he says 3 years of working as Mordi's guardian was enough to pay off the dagger.. but then Ewan looks at the dagger and finds out that it's worth twice as much as Kieth thought.. this convinces Kieth to join the knights along with Mordi.
Mordi's personality is really dull.. she's got this... gloomy... whispering... voice... and talks really slowly... all the time... it's annoying... She actually shows some other bit of personality when she complains about having to spend another 3 years with Kieth.. and later when she's at the capital, she's amazed at how different this place is from the desert.
Marie greets everyone, and forces Mordi to drink tea and talk about what the desert is like... meanwhile Alto is with Rusty in the tavern, and Rusty tells him about how Hrodulf tried to get him to join the harbingers, and he seems to genuinely believe that he's doing the right thing and that the harbingers are saving the world... and Lisette is busy trying to learn how to sing, cuz without her, the 4 witches can't perform the ensemble to reverse Hilda's crystallizations.
