|Episode 5: Turnabout Revolution - Trial finale recap|
Apollo has to make the choice whether to give up or continue accusing the queen...
... yep, you guessed it, it's another false sense of choice. Apollo already knows what he has to do.
Mr. Wright, you know that saying your constantly reminding me and Athena of? "The worst of times are when lawyers have to force their biggest smiles."
And Nahyuta... You know that creed we've known ever since we were kids? "A dragon never yields."
They are not merely words. They are what's carried us this far. So now, it's time to honot these words and the memories of the ones who gave them to us.
Nahyuta: "It would seem, Apollo... that not one, but two auspicious creatures dwell deep within you: A fierce dragon and a virtuous phoenix that shall scatter the clouds hiding the heavens! ...I shall join you in your death-defying bluff!"
holy shit... this dialog right now is insanely good
and this music...
Apollo crosses his arms and smiles...
Ga'ran: "Is there no end to your defiance?!"
Apollo: "Unfortunately for you, no. I won't let fear, or even the law, force me to abandon the pursuit of truth."
"Your Eminence. If you are the law here in Khura'in... then your very existence is wrong!"
Phoenix knows Apollo is bluffing, and asks how he's going to overturn the throne from Ga'ran before she executes us... inner monologue laser time. the obvious conclusion you get to here, is what this whole episode started out with... using the Founder's Orb to gain spiritual power from the Holy Mother and become the next leader of Khura'in... Apollo has the Founder's Orb, and Maya knows the founder's name...
oh wait no, it's not what I was expecting... it's even better than that...
Ga'ran doesn't have the spiritual power necessary to be the true queen.. that's why she needed to keep Queen Amara alive to do the queen's spirit channeling duties in her stead, and why she was obsessed with the Founder's Orb...
If Ga'ran never had rights to the throne in the first place, then that makes the DC Act null and void, and it means she can't order anyone's execution.
Apollo calls out Ga'ran's bluff, hands her the Founder's Orb and asks her to channel the Holy Mother right here in this courtroom.. he even gets the royal guards on his side on this... When she tries and fails the channeling, the guards immediately change their allegiance and aim their weapons at Ga'ran.
what an amazingly satisfying conclusion, holy shit that was so worth it for how drawn out it was.
Apollo finally got to see Nahyuta's smile for the first time in 15 years.
After the trial ends, they meet with Athena and Maya, who were watching the whole thing and wishing they could jump in to help when the royal guards attacked... Trucy reveals that she was there too, she used magic to suddenly show up in Khura'in... Edgeworth says she used the old "hide in Edgeworth's suitcase trick"...
Phoenix: "Tell me you at least noticed it was heavier than usual"
lol, Rayfa is about to call Nahyuta "Big brother", but she gets embarrassed with Phoenix there and punches him. also she confirmed that Queen Amara survived the bullet wound, so she can help Rayfa with spirit channeling duties until she is powerful enough to take over.
Nahyuta asks Apollo to stay in Khura'in and take over Dhurke's law office and help him rebuild Khura'in's legal system.. He thinks it over, and decides to do it. Trucy and Athena were against it at first, but they accepted his decision... Apollo is now extremely busy running his "Justice Law Offices"...
This turned out to be the best case in the game... Amazing plot twists and story, it had me 2nd guessing myself all the way through and even near the end when I thought I had everything figured out, it still surprised me. And this case made Apollo seem like a much more competent character compared to how he was in PW4. Even though Phoenix was involved with this case and helped out with the trials, it was Apollo doing most of the epic plot revelations and turning the trial around with brilliant arguments, while Phoenix mostly just took a backseat and acted as the assistant character.
