|Easily found the female mantis near that big tree south of Lanayru Bridge... and now I see that I can now bomb a north-west-ish narrow path that was blocked off before... this place has weird wall structures that look like they're merged into the mountains... and a thing to use the spinner on... but other than that it's just a pointless alternate route to north Lanayru Field, skipping the field west of Castle Town.|
oh wow I don't remember this at all... that path to the north of North Lanayru field that was blocked off with rocks... it leads DIRECTLY into Zora's domain... so I guess this field, where the moat joins up with Zora's River... is actually the main Zora's Domain entrance... Lanayru is much less confusing to me now... and now I can easily go and re-talk to all the Zoras as a human, follow the river to the fishing place and try out everything I can do there, and then go back to the castle moat and finally head to west Lanayru Field to enter Castle Town and explore that as a human for the first time... I love how this game is structured so that you can circle around and do all of the optional things that are available before getting to your next progression point.
oh wow lmao... that mail carrier is hunched down behind the Zora's throne, trying to figure out which Zora is the "Mr. Zora" this letter is meant for... there's so many small little things in this game that are incredibly easy to miss.
also wtf I'm sure I NEVER saw this before... talking to the Zora at the bottom of the waterfall, he can give you a ride on his back all the way up to the top of the waterfall... also found a male dragonfly here, at the bottom area.. no idea where the female one is.
I can also head into Snowpeak now, west of Zora's Domain... it's a large empty area with some ice platforms over water, and up ahead is mountain expanse... but when you try to go forward it starts snowing really hard, and you can't move very fast, and a bunch of snow wolves attack you that you can't fight off due to the storm... I guess it's essentially the same thing as making it so you die from the cold if you don't go back... You can talk to Midna here and she tells you there's no reason to go to this area.
... and the female dragonfly is in plain sight in the upper Zora's River area. there's a portal here too. the girl sees you defeat the twilight monsters, and then asks you to use your bomb arrows to unblock the river flow into Lake Hylia... She lets you use the boat that she rents out for her business... I'm really bad at these row-boating mechanics (in games and in real life), but there's like no danger here... it's all just a game of trying to collect the rupees that the Zora poops out. this sends you all the way back to Lake Hylia.. the Zora thanks you and says can reopen their shop now that they have a path to Castle Town again.. I remember one of the Zoras at Domain saying that Prince Ralis passed out due to lack of moisture, so this river/lake is the only way the Zoras can safely travel for a long time.
That zora gave me the fishing lady's bomb bag as a reward.
I mean, I was never in danger of running out of bombs in the first place... I see that Zora swimming away with the boat behind him... you can even follow him up until he goes up that waterfall leading back up the river.
guess I'll save rollgoal and fishing for another time...
went back to fully re-explore North Lanayru Field and easily found the male and female stagbeetles... the female one was above a blocked-off cave that leads to a weird Castle-Town-like room with some torches on the wall and a doorway blocked off by ice... nothing else in this area... now to West Lanayru Field...
learned the 2nd hidden skill, the shield attack... also easily found the male and female butterfly in this small field... I think I see a ledge that you need the hookshot to get onto? there were some in some other areas I explored today too.
I now have 16/24 bugs... after I give her a couple of ants and head to the door she mumbles "I know you have bugs..."
Fanadi mostly tells me what I already know, but she can also spoil the locations of heart pieces by showing where they are... she showed me the Ordon Ranch.
that kid Goron in the south road is crying because his dad is stuck at the eastern gate and can't get any more hot springwater.
lol... those cats follow Link around and some of them start playing with a ball instead if they go close to it. and yeah the bridge east of Castle Town is still gone.. the Goron shop owner is sitting there because he's out of hot spring water stock and can't get more...
