|Finished the rest of the game on another 10/10 high edibles session. |
Finished everything at Gobi's Valley, then went to do the 2nd crocodile minigame in Bubblegloop Swamp, and the 2nd Boggy race in Freezeezy Peak. That race was actually decently challenging.
Mad Monster Mansion portrait near the Rusty Bucket Bay entrance... I'm kinda remembering now how all the portraits in the hub world are kinda placed in a way that makes you find where the next level after that is... except for the Click Clock Wood one.
That timed glass sliding puzzle thing is only hard because of the camera angel.
Swam down the well and got the stuff at the bottom of it, even though I know it's much easier to do this later as a pumpkin...
The giant haunted church, with the rhyming ghost piano player... this part is really huge and atmospheric... almost missed finding the flight pad.
Creepy potted plants that say "thank you" in a really strange voice... wow
Some of the windows lead to random hidden rooms with nothing but monsters + consumable pickups
I remember having a lot of trouble at this hedge maze part when I first played this, I guess I didn't know back then that you can kill the ghosts with gold feathers and they don't respawn.
Exploring this level again as the pumpkin, with all the enemies gone, is really fun... just taking in the atmosphere...
Oh yeah... the water level switches to get access to the Rusty Bucket Bay... I nearly forgot about this.
The dirty water in this level isn't that bad if you constantly jump in and out of it while going through it.
First thing I always do in this level is go around the outside perimeter and explore inside the shipping containers... that green jinjo in the middle of a toxic pool is still hard to me... I just tanked some hits to get it.
That "boss boom box"... one of the few bosses in the game... lol that was fun. I defeated it without using gold feathers just for a bit of a challenge.
That platforming section with the instant death pit... that's not as hard as I remembered... it's only a little tense if you haven't found all 100 notes yet.
That dreaded puzzle piece in the boat's propellers though... that still gives me trouble. I waited until after getting all the notes before attempting that.
The witch switch in Rusty Bucket Bay is easily missable...
That 3rd water level switch to find the "Gold Feathers" cheato spell is really hard to find...
Found the Click Clock Wood level entrance... the pot there warps you to the 2nd level area... found a switch to make the puzzle pedestal for the Click Clock Wood portrait way back at the beginning appear...
Wow I have enough notes to get to the trivia game already.
Click Clock Wood is really interesting... it forces you to go in the proper order of the seasons because the switch to open the next season is in the previous season area. And there's some really tricky platforming that gets harder as you progress through the seasons. At least if you don't cheese through it by using a flight pad.
I love how there's characters that go through a story as you progress through the seasons too... that bird egg hatches into a giant baby bird and you need to collect worms for it... got 6 more worms than needed.
The winter version is the most different of them all... the tree leaf platforms are gone and you need to use flight pad to get around everywhere... also those damn snowmen are back.
I know the Brentilda dialog gives you some info you need for the trivia game... so far I've talked to Brentilda once each time I found her... gonna try and beat the trivia game now without going back to talk to her more.
lol the music questions are so easy... the music in this game is very recognizable... most of the Gruntilda's personal life questions I got right thanks to what I remember Brentilda saying. The picture questions are the hardest cuz they always show some very obscure closeup of a wall or some shit.
810 note door to the roof of Gruntilda's lair... let's go
The rest of the notes you get past 810 reward you with ammo refills...
The final Gruntilda boss fight is still really hard... beat it on the 3rd try.
