|King Dice wasn't that hard after I figured out you need to parry the pink cards to avoid his attack. Although it can be really easy to mess up the parry timing and lose all your HP very quickly.|
Now I'm at the last boss, and it's kinda tough. The first phase has some really tricky attacks where you gotta react very fast and also keep in mind the minor enemies that alternate between walking in from the left and right. At first I was using homing attack here, but I figured out that the Charge attack is the most efficient for this phase. The rest of the battle is just a matter of using the spread shot on the devil's giant eyeballs while dashing across the platforms to dodge the barrage of different attacks. The pink bomb isn't worth attempting a parry on when you're just trying to win the fight.
I'm still missing 3 gold coins somewhere apparently, because otherwise there's no way to buy the last item in the shop, the one that gives you two extra hearts. Some of them I just needed to talk to some NPCs again after fulfilling some condition... some of them were hidden on the map, and it's not enough to just go to where they're hidden, you have to go there and press A, and it has to be a very specific pixel you have to be facing towards. I had to follow a guide to find these last 3. Also I needed to use a guide to find the 4th barbershop quartet NPC in world 2.
After beating the game, now all the bosses have an Expert mode added in. You can only have one ranking for each boss, but you get a higher max rank for playing on harder difficulties. S rank is only possible when playing on Expert and you don't get hit and beat the target time and parry at least 3 times. I managed to get S rank easily on the farm boss and the bouncing plum boss...
This boxing frogs boss is really hard to get an S rank on, mostly because of the target time being under 2 minutes, so you really need to parry almost everything in the first phase while also dodging/killing the flaming enemies without using the slow homing attack, and super attack once during that phase and then get enough parries to be able to super attack again at the start of the 2nd phase. And then you need to do another super during the 3rd phase which is really tricky to do without getting hit. If it weren't for the time factor, I would've S ranked this one much sooner, but it took me a couple hours of practice to learn how to parry everything in the first phase without getting hit, maximize the use of supers, and then get a good run going where I don't mess up in the 3rd phase.
With the Run & Gun levels, there is no difficulty selection, and you can only get an A+ for beating it in the target time with all your health and 3 or more parries... but I heard there's also a "P" ranking for the Run & Gun levels that you get for beating them without shooting anything. I don't know if you also need to beat the other A+ requirements ontop of that or not... it would be insane if so. I'll at least go for the A+ rankings. The treetop stage is the first one where an A+ is actually fairly hard due to the time requirement. I even got under 1:30 and that still wasn't good enough apparently.
I'm really looking forward to the Expert mode of the later bosses. The ghost train and the devil must be insane just to beat them, let alone S rank.
