|Wow, this game is really hard. Eating food or getting hit by enemies makes you fatter and slower, and that makes you more likely to get hit and eat food... In order to slim down, you have to kill enemies and drink the diet drinks they drop... The levels have a very strict time limit, and if you fail you start the level over. Conversely, the slimmer you get, the easier it is to avoid enemies and food, and you also have much stronger attacks when you are slim.|
The first level took me a few tries. Once I got a good run going where I got to the maximum slimness and was able to shoot projectiles, the rest of it was a cakewalk...
The 2nd level is insane though. It's an autoscroll horizontal shmup level... Food projectiles flying at you all over the place... I thought I had a good run going, where I mostly avoided getting hit, and even got to the maximum slim level and got rocket launcher attacks... but that still wasn't enough to beat the boss before the time ran out... wtf... I guess with this level, not only do you have to avoid getting hit, but there's also an RNG factor to it as well... just beating it requires you to get lucky enough to have the enemies drop a lot of clock items to even make it possible to beat the boss on time... At least that's how it seems to be... I don't know if there are specific enemies that always drop clocks that I should be going for...
There, finally... stage 2 took about 20 tries. I actually didn't have a problem finding enough clocks anymore, now it was just a matter of not getting hit and staying slim until the end of the level.
Stage 3 is Cake world... a vertical platforming level. This stage took me a LOT of practice, but eventually I got to the point where I could get up to the boss very easily and consistently... then it was just a matter of getting to the boss with enough time left to beat him... This isn't like Kid Icarus vertical platforming, where the screen doesn't scroll back down, so you can still survive after getting hit and falling down a long way... and scrolling back down also respawns the clock items, so this made it easy to grind up enough time to be able to beat the boss... But it's still not too easy. If you get hit even once by any food in this level, you become fat instantly, and it takes a while to get skinny and have projectiles again, and projectiles are the only way to fight the boss it seems.
Stage 4 is another horizontal shmup level, in the desert. This one is ridiculously hard... in fact I'm not even convinced it's possible to beat. I've tried like 50 times, and at this point I've memorized the level well enough that I can get through it perfectly, but I've never ONCE gotten enough clock drops to be able to even make it to the boss before the timer runs out... this level timer is unfair... I'd have been able to beat this already if it were more sensible... clock drops are so rare in this level... am I doing something wrong? It's hard to believe that the level is just impossible until you get the 1/100 chance that you'll get enough clock drops to be able to beat the timer.
