|Played through the epilogue, which was pretty much the same as the demo, then played through Chapter 1 which took like, over an hour, seriously. I was spending a bit of time destroying stuff and reading flavor dialog, but it just kept on going.|
I'm loving the aesthetics of this already though. The gameplay is exactly the same as the first game, nothing much has changed at all, a lot of the upgrades and abilities in the gates of hell are the same too, although now I'm actually able to perform the bat dodge maneuver more consistantly, which helped me beat a boss without taking any damage (and somehow I still took too long at it so it gave me a silver).
I'm really starting to not care about the platinum rankings at all. They are just really arbitrary goals involving beating the enemies really fast and flawlessly. it's like, I appreciate that the option is there to incentivize me to replay the levels and improve my abilities, but I see no reason to force myself to achieve the arbitrary scores required to unlock all the platinum medals. It would suck all the fun out of the game to force myself through it like that. Instead I'll just come back to these games once in a while when I feel like replaying them and set a goal for myself to get higher ranked medals on every level than my current scores.
