|Episode 17 - Sakura and the Crazy Sweets|
This dream again...
If there's something you want to tell me, just say so!
Or... Is this something that will happen in the future? Is it a premonition?
I know... who that is.
After waking up from that dream, Sakura rushes out to go meet Rika at the park. They got up early so they could see each other for a bit before they each go to their separate schools... wow Rika's voice sounds like a middle-aged woman now. Rika gives Sakura some books to borrow.
Then Kero tells Sakura she forgot to bring her apron for cooking class, and she has to run back to get it and then run all the way to school.
lol I love this chibified art style a Sakura, Tomoyo, and Akiho are cooking together.
Sakura figures Akiho is probably bring something home for Kaito, and Akiho says she's thinking of decorating the treat with a clock design, since he's always carrying that pocket watch... Then Sakura starts thinking of what decoration to put on her treat that she's giving to Syaoran... a ranshinban design would be too hard... a Kero-chan design would be hard to eat...
Then Sakura points out that Akiho didn't bring Momo with her in her bag today. She says she left her at home for Kaito to fix because something caught onto her scarf. Here's where it cuts to Akiho's house and we see Kaito talking to Momo as he finishes fixing her scarf.
There. All finished.
Honestly... That girl will never grow out of her clumsiness.
That's part of what makes her so cute.
Yes, I suppose so.
Staying still all the time is exhausting...
Your effort is appreciated. Here. Have some chocolates.
Momo's voice is really cute. Of course, just like Kero-chan she likes eating sweets... but while Kero goes nuts whenever sweets are around, and Suppi pretends to hate sweets and then goes nuts whenever he eats them... Momo is much more laid back and chill about her enjoyment of sweets.
The most delicious and beautiful food in the world!
So? Has the time still not arrived?
The collection of cards is proceeding steadily.
We are indeed progressing toward that time. Yes... Even now.[/quote]
Kaito goes to look at his stop watch while saying this, and sees Akiho in his watch...
So I think my theory wasn't that far off, it does seem that Kaito is going after Sakura's old cards... Maybe Sakura capturing these Clear Cards which replace the functionality of her old cards is allowing Kaito to somehow go in and nab her old transparent cards?
Sakura tells Akiho and Tomoyo that she met Rika earlier this morning, and she wanted to show Akiho the Alice book that she got from her, but she left it at home when she went back for her apron.
Suddenly, all the sweets in the classroom start flying around in the air. This is at exactly the half-way point and we're already at a card appearance. Seems like we're out of the pattern of mostly slice-of-life focused episodes by this point.
Tomoyo helps Sakura hide in the corner so she can put everyone to sleep. The sweets all just seem to be jumping around peacefully, but as soon as Tomoyo points out that they're not much of a threat, they instantly become scary looking and start chasing Sakura and Tomoyo. This is clearly another instance of Sakura's thoughts influencing the behavior of a card.
Kero joins them as they get chased outside. He disagrees that this thing can be called a "cake". He's again relegated to the status of being Tomoyo's assistant rather than helping Sakura out at all.
Sakura uses Fly, and then the cake monster copies her and grows wings and starts chasing her in the sky... but this is just what she wanted. Now she can use the Spiral card on it without hurting anybody. She captures the Appear card... I guess this card has something to do with making things appear, similar to Illusion?
Akiho tells Kaito about what happened in class. Everyone's cakes disappeared by the time she woke up, but she was still able to make another one for him. While they're eating, Akiho tells him about how it was weird that Sakura kept acting apologetic towards her, and Kaito laughs...
You seemed to be enjoying yourself very much! U-Um, please... Please laugh again.
Kaito is really caught off guard by hearing Akiho say this... he probably doesn't realize that he's erased her memories of all the previous times she's seen him laugh.
D-Did I say something strange again? I'm studying as hard as I can, but I still say things that are illogical or irrelevant, all the time... I'm sorry.
There is nothing you need apologize for. Merely having you do this for me makes me truly happy.
Then he uses his clock magic to make her fall asleep. Momo starts talking again.
Even with your "D" magic, you can't stop that book's time.
That is exactly why the new cards are necessary.
The episode ends as Kaito uses his clock magic circle to see a video of the dream that Sakura had at the beginning of this episode... I wonder if this is also Akiho's dream that he's looking into? It seems like Kaito is definitely using Akiho in some way to aid him in this card collection mission... and the book of time is involved and is working against him... There's still a lot I'm not sure of.
Also I realized Yukito and Touya didn't appear at all in this episode. Looks like next episode involves them and even Yue, though.
