|Episode 5: Turnabout Revolution - Trial part 3 recap|
I'm really liking this case a lot... although Dhurke is dumb as bricks and extremely self-centered, and Queen Ga'ran is a total bitch and stole the spotlight from Nahyuta (he hasn't said much of anything since the trial started)... but Rayfa's big moment of clarity during the first half of this trial, where she learns what her true role is, that was an amazing moment...
Apollo is killing it with his lawyer skills in this one... Phoenix helps him a little bit, but not enough to steal the spotlight from him. This trial really should focus on him, since his dad is the accused...
You would think Queen Ga'ran's power to rewrite the laws in an instant would completely break the balance of this trial, but she's mostly only using this power to showboat and make Apollo lose confidence and want to give up... fortunately she still has the typical prosecutor's attitude of wanting to give the defense another chance just to see what arguments they come up with next.
During the trial recess, Datz took Dhurke and tried to escape with him... Dhurke made it out and Datz got caught, now the royal guard is after him... The queen has ordered the trial to continue anyway even without the defendant there.
Datz says that Dhurke is trying to rescue Amara, cuz apparently she's going to be in danger because of where this trial is going... probably has something to do with that one secret that Dhurke was referring to.
Apollo introduces himself to Maya for the first time...
Maya: "Oh, so you're Apollo! Nick's told me all about you! You're teh new guy with the loud voice, and a bit of an unreliable streak, right?"
Phoenix: "Um, well, that was two years ago. You've come a long way since."
Maya has no idea what's going on, and she gets mad at Apollo when she realizes what she's here for... she completely denies having channeled Inga. Apollo thinks Maya is hiding something, and he tries to use the burnt jacket button as evidence that she dressed as Inga and channeled him in order to go from Inga's quarters to the tomb without being seen... wtf, that doesn't seem plausible.
Ga'ran brings up a new fact that makes it impossible for her to have summoned Inga... Maya doesn't know that Inga's full name is actually "Inga Karkhuul Haw-kohd Dis'nahm Bi'ahni Lawga Ormo Pohmpus Da'nit Ar'edi Iz Khura'in III"
lmao holy shit... this game easily wins in the "most ridiculously cheesy pun names" category.
Apollo and Phoenix still won't give up on this line of reasoning, because it's the only way they can clear Dhurke of suspicion. The only possibility now is that Nayna is the one who channeled Inga... and actually it would make sense, since Inga's footprints were found in Inga's quarters, but the only footprints leading out of there were from Inga's shoes.
It turns out, Nayna is already here in the witness lobby... this is the first time we've seen her actually do anything besides whisper to Rayfa.. she looks very different without her hat. she has this giant ball of hair that she has to keep tied up with cloth
Nayna says that only royal family members can learn spirit channeling, and also believes that Amara is dead and Ga'ran is the only one who can do it now...
oh, I think I see where this is going... Apollo started to make an argument by pointing out that Amara is still alive, but then wonders how it could relate to Nayna being able to use spirit channeling... it must be that Nayna is actually Amara.
That has to be it... Nayna's age in her profile is still left as a mystery... but then, does Dhurke know, and in that case what the hell is he doing right now?
Ga'ran looks really upset and worried about where Apollo is going with this... Prosecutor Nahyuta finally speaks up, and calls Apollo out on his bluff...
YES! I knew it... I was hoping it would come to this... Apollo calls on Ga'ran to try and channel Amara's spirit, to prove whether or not she really is dead. This should be good... watch her try and get out of this by changing the rules...
... surprisingly, Ga'ran doesn't deny it, and admits that Apollo is right about his theory that Amara and Nayna are the same person.
wow... so it turned out to be the "way too obvious" solution I had in mind earlier after all...
and I guess this is what Rayfa meant when she was talking about what she learned about Amara from her mother...
Nayna just... transformed herself from an elderly woman into Queen Amara... so she was spirit channeling some old woman the entire time?
Amara looks way more majestic and regal than Ga'ran ever did... The judge an everyone else are completely stunned to see her again. From Nahyuta's reaction, I take it he didn't know about this...
That final boss reveal was so good...
