|Starting off in Ordon Spring again... except now Midna will finally let me go back through the Twilight Curtain.|
Faron Province - Hyrule Field
and found a random heart piece in high up on a tree branch that I could get with my boomerang... okay? found both beetles easily... they stick out as a glowing white dot in the nearly empty fields so they aren't too hard to find. The west and north paths are both blocked off... at the east I randomly run into the mailman who tells me about the black wall up ahead that prevents you from getting through... gives me a letter about his mail delivering abilities.
I like how the twilight curtain is arranged in the field... it covers the whole northern area and then curves around to cover the west area that you're going to. Midna: "It's much closer than I thought." the symbols on the curtain only show up when you get really close... probably no other light world inhabitant but Link is brave enough to get that close to it on purpose.
And the curtain of white light on the other side behaves the same way...
Eldin Province - Kakariko Gorge
has some points of interest, that I can't get to as a wolf, so there's really no reason to explore here yet. I open a portal by killing some twilight enemies, and Midna then tells me about how to teleport through them to other ones I've been to... the bridge is gone, and for some reason Midna can't just give me that long distance jumping power I've used a few times before already, so we have to go back to Faron and get the bridge back... it's a really pointless 30 second detour
It seems like only Midna and a few of the enemies are the only ones that are able to freely travel from twilight and light... she gives Link this ability by being with him, but he's still stuck as a wolf anyway until the place that transformed him is restored.
Eldin Province - Hyrule Field
again nothing to explore... I run into the same looking gate I saw at the east, but now Wolf can dig under it...
wow... I just noticed from far away, the curtain of light in the background looks like very bright clouds/fog that surrounds the area...
Eldin Province - Kakariko Village
wtf, these enemies near a fountain... they NEVER chase me and get close enough together so that I can kill them all.. now a light spirit is calling me over, but I can also follow the children's scent into a house, or listen to the inside from the window hearing him complain about babysitting... I can't do anything about those yet but I'll check them out for the sake of seeing everything in the game.
Midna lets you jump up onto that building to get inside from the hole in the roof, and you see a scene where the Ordon kids are hiding away from the monsters in this sanctuary... the one guy says even his bombs were no match for those black beasts...
just had a thought... it's kinda cool to interpret this as the Twilight creatures went and massacred the whole town except for these guys, and that's why this town is so deserted... but who knows if that's true...
Renado yells at Barnes for freaking out and scaring the Ordon kids... the girl from Ordon starts crying... Barnes suggests this place isn't safe and they should run and hide, and Renado tells him about the Cellar, which opens up when you light all the candles, but then his daughter says that's not a good idea, there's a bunch of scary insects down there...
Midna talks about how you can't interact with them... "You are chosen by the gods, and only that keeps you from turning into a spirit, or worse, into a dark monster, when you enter twilight."
lighting up the path to the cellar and going down there is the only way Wolf can get back outside... Midna helps him leap out a well into Eldin Province - Graveyard...
there were bugs in the well but you can't collect them until you talk to the light spirit... and no other bugs show up until then. I guess those were left in out of laziness because most people would've just talked to the light spirit by now.
oh, it seems like there are now twilight versions of the Hyrule enemies.. like I'm pretty sure those guys standing by the gate are bokoblins turned twili... I'm not gonna explore EVERYTHING pre-bug hunt, but I will go as far as I can down Death Mountain just to check out all of the boundaries that are keeping you locked in at this point in the game (just in case I don't find them all before getting the last bug and being warped back to the spring)
I can actually go like all the way up Death Mountain, there are a few Gorons along the way who are garding their home from the humans for some reason... one of them is stuck getting back because of a constant stream of hot smoke coming out of the wall. I found a howl stone along the way, and the knight tells me to take up the sword and find him... up ahead there's a cave blocked off with rocks and a small tunnel blocked by a weird stone with a wolf paw on it... artificial wolf Link barrier that goes away once you restore the light spirit or something?
oh wait... all along you COULD see the bugs if you used sense, they just don't show up on the minimap yet. warped back to talk to the light spirit... huh... oh and if you Listen to everyone a 2nd time... Renado wonders how the twilight demons got the cellar open, and Barnes is doubtful of this person named "Wolf" who they say will come and save them.
also I noticed a mysterious statue in the cellar, that looks similar to one I saw in Hyrule Field...
The bomb shop has some flammable lab equipment upstairs... an exit leads out to an upper area, and you see a light bug run into bomb storage shed. and a bit further up is an unlabeled house, with nothing but rupees and a ladder inside.
Wolf lit up the fireplace with a torch, sensing a bug was in there.. Midna flies out of the house ahead of me when it the whole place catches on fire... I'm not sure if it's possible to get blown up and die here by staying too long. the explosion kills 3 light bugs that were hiding in there.
also I see a treasure from way up on this high part of town, that I could probably get to with a chicken..
went into the general store from an upper entrance, it was actually a whole big house with a kitchen, business area, and upper bedroom/dining room.. only one bug in that whole place, and some twibokoblins that I got rid of. Also from up on this cliffside (not the bombshop side), I can see a couple more rooftop entrances to houses near the sanctuary that I could probably get to in wolf form... in fact that's the only other bug in Kakariko. There's an empty spring up here and nothing else really...
the last 3 bugs must be in Death Mountain...
"My name is Eldin. I am one of the light spirits of Hyrule. I am the spirit that guards these lands. O great hero chosen by the gods... The dark power that you seek lies in the sacred grounds of the proud mountain dwellers."
is Eldin a Loftwing spirit, I wonder? He kinda looks like that.
oh wow, I just noticed how much clearer the background in the distance is now... instead of just being white fog.. you can actually see Death Mountain ahead from here. But already those grounds have been defiled, draped in shadow, and seeded with evil.
Renado introduces Wolf to himself and his daughter Luda... leaving Barnes out.
Colin, the blonde haired boy, tells wolf how it seemed like they were in a nightmare all this time.. that weird short kid doesn't say much, even when you talk to all of them as a group, he's the only one that doesn't say anything.
Exploring Kakariko is a lot different now than it was with the wolf... the general store which you could freely explore before from the upper entrance, you can now only go in the front entrance and see the rest of the place behind the counter as a WW/OoT style shop...
The inn is still fully explorable, but you can't attack or run/jump around and knock down dressers and stuff anymore... it's more like an MM/WW style inn/house.
No chickens here yet... for some reason the grass to call Epona isn't at the spring even though it's on the minimap... and you can't go back to Hyrule Field because of the gates blocking both village entrances... found a male Ant in the graveyard.
past 11 hours before I finish exploring Kakariko for the 2nd time...
Renado: "The gorons recognize only strength. Normal humans can not pursuade them. But... I do know one person who was able to best them and earn their trust... Bo. You may know him as the mayor of Ordon."
he tells Wolf to go there and get his help, and also tell him the children are safe, he just needs a horse and cart to be able to safely take them home. although he tells me to go back to Ordon, the gates out of town are still closed... suddenly I see Horse come in, shaking some bokoblins off her... so that's where she's been... Wolf manages to calm her down and gain control... I can now jump over the gates...
