|World 6 - Ripple Star|
Double spike power is just like regular spike... also it pretty much serves the same purpose as Shock but better...
The first 2 crystal shards in 6-1 were in plain sight, but I missed the last one.
That witch character I keep seeing in the background... is there like a secret related to this?
Woah this atmosphere is really cool... I'm at like a witch's mansion... Waddle Dee convinces Kirby to check out the bottom of the well.
A really simple cave maze, partly underwater and partly above ground, with an easy to find shard... Then the next room is more of a temple atmophere, again with underwater sections... Adeline gives Kirby an invincibility item, but I don't need it since I have cutter + spike, the ultimate power in this game... and it turns out that's just the thing I needed to get through the green pillar and obtain the 2nd shard... there's also other colored pillars in this room... hmm, I guess the the color of a breakable wall determines which ability you need? Every solo ability has its own color, and I think any combination of that will do to open breakable doors of that color.
The level abruptly ends as I go up an elevator... lol I can never get used to this game and its really weird abrupt level endings...
Apparently missed the 1st shard... must've been somewhere in the 1st room (near the mansion) of that very short level...
Tried out the snowman (Freeze and Bomb) some more... it doesn't actually protect you from enemy attacks, just enemy contact... 6-3 just seems to be a miniboss guantlet, with a divided up 3d spiral staircase room between each miniboss room, each one with some unique decor in the backgrounds...
actually, not really even minibosses at all... just a bunch of easy enemies that appear one or two at a time... it's more of like a "Choose your power combo" room but you only get one chance with each power.
lmao what the hell... Ice + Shock lets you turn into a fridge and make food come out of you... does it even have any offensive ability? wow yeah it does. The food destroys enemies that it hits as well as restoring your health... AND you're invulnerable at least to enemy contact in fridge form. lmao this might even top Spike+Cutter as the most broken tier ability in the game.
wow that was the whole level huh... I mean the last room with the flying enemies can be kinda tough depending on the ability you use, but 6-3 was hardly even a level. Also now I'm thinking that certain miniboss rooms with shards in them might have to be beaten with full health or some other requirement to unlock the shard.
This boss is... what...
it changes into a bunch of different abstract shapes, including a 2D worm that crawls around the room like Moldorm, a 3D cube with crystals spinning around it... it's like a bunch of minibosses, and they each represent one of the copy abilities.
also I guess the "invulnerability to contact damage" thing only applies to enemies that die in one hit... not to bosses. Fridge is useless here cuz the boss has a shield protecting it from frontal attacks.
actually I'm having trouble even managing to hit it most of the time at first...
wait, maybe it's not that it's shielded from frontal attacks, it's that it's only weak to the same projectiles that its current form uses on you.
okay... this boss is actually legit hard, even when I know what to do. you do like barely any damage to it. and some of its phases are really hard to dodge.... the black one is the easiest to dodge, but I have to be a bit lucky to get to the projectile in time to get one hit on it... the cutter/moldorm one and the blue 3d cube with crystals spinning around it in 3d, I can hit those forms 2 or 3 times per phase, but I'm still kinda bad at dodging while attacking them. the shock one that shoots lasers around the room, and the spike one that extends its spikes around the room one at a time, and the stone one that is always partially shielded by other projectiles as it moves around left and right, I can almost never dodge these forms, and can usually only hit them once in those phases if I don't also get hit by something while attacking them...
I even got to see the game over screen because of this boss.
okay getting better now... I figured out the fire phase soon enough, then the spike phase and 3d cube phase became a bit easier... the moldorm phase is just about jumping over the thing and turning around to suck in a projectile from its tail with just the right timing to not get hit... the rock one is still easy to screw up on but I get the strategy now.
the laser one... damn, died to it when that was its last phase... (each phase has its own hp and you can tell when you've defeated one). That's the only one I still think is way too chaotic to know what to do... the lasers bounce off of the boss and I can never quite predict the angle they're going to come at me from. also the black one still seems a bit luck based to me.
omg the shock one is actually easy now... just stay at the side of the screen and jump... and it'll only come at you in the corners...
finally... beat the ga--
